an insane person writes a jd analysis

Summary

Summed up:
JD has 2 motives for what hes done, veronica and almost seeing his own father in westerberg. Veronixa being obvious, westerbergs comical levels of awfulness matching his fathers helps aid this sentiment. I tgink all 3 murders (including bombing attempt) had different motives, Chandlers being the thing with his father, kurt amd ram being veronixa akd the final one beinf a mixture.
Thats just my opinion tho! i may have messed up on this since its made from pretty much solely memory butttt YEAHHH! This isnt mesnt to humanize J.D. or make him look like a good person in ANY WAY. Just a little theory :)

an insane person writes a jd analysis

I think J.D. did what he did for 2 reasons. Veronica being the first, ofc but like…he lives in a house with a borderline psychotic father and he’s been constantly exposed to violence, he pribablt sub conciouslt knows hes a bad person but maybe he can have at least a small sense of control over the people around him if he killed those he thought were bad…maybe. maybe he can orevent ppl like his father from existinf if he kills them.
maybe its his way of having control over his circumstances, maybe hes never been ti a school worse then westerberg. maybe killing these people is like killinf the next versions of his father to him.

Obviously he wouldnt be…like himself if his dad wasnt, well, his dad. his actuwl introduction to verknica involved him sayijg something negative about his father, and some other things.
What good father would make a 17 year old in highschool pay rent? despite owning whats apparently a sucessful buisness, at that?
(Freeze Your Brain: “I learned to cook pasta, **I learned to pay rent**, Learned the world doesn’t owe you a cent”), (Veronica saw ads on tv [often, apparently], this is by no means a business in danger.)
A dad who owns an apparently succesful buisness in tearing buildings down who makes his son pay rejt at 17…sounds like a situation that could breed a kid with several issues.

Now, Westerberg. The most. insane school ive ever seen
Westerberg has a huge bullying problem, pointijg this out seems like pointinf out how grass is green even, amd Veronixa is a victim to this, chandler, duke, kurt and ram being pretty asshole-ish to her.

And of course J.D. would fall in love with the person whos good but wrapped up in all…that. that being the higher ups on the social ladder.
Its clear Veronixa sees good in about everyone since the literal 4th line in the musical, dead girl walking, seventeen, dead girl walking reprise and finally possibly, i am damaged.
(Beautiful, “I believe that theres god in everyone), (Dead Girl Walking, “And you know, you know, you know, its cuz your beautiful, you say you’re numb inside, but i cant agree…), (Seventeen, the whole somg is her looking past all J.D. has done), (Dead Girl Walking Reprise, “No one here deserved to die [despite how horrible the things theyve done to her are, especially the rumors kurt and ram spread), and the possible one.
I Am Damaged.
“Our love is god. (3X)”
“Say hi to god.”

The usage of “god” is odd to me.
Maybe she still thinks he could go to heaven.
J.D. The ine who killed 3 and tried to kill hundreds, being able to “say hi to god”.
Not likely.

Its all bad luck and chance that they met and fell in love. Its a mistake by the universe in a way, it gives J.D. more things to be angry about, a reasonable (debatably) victim, and finally, a person who stays by his side for a longer than reasonable amount of time.
Veronica despite being smart, is naive. He killed chandler. Why would he only “ruin the lives” of kurt and ram, who did worse things than chandler? It doesnt quite make sense.
But veronica is loyal.

So J.D. has 2 things he should never have.
A scapegoat motive, and a human scapegoat.
He did all this for veronica, i dont doubt at all for a second this was part of his reasoning.

i think its half of it, as mentioned earlier.
1: Veronica
2: His father.

Westerberg has comically horrible people. The absurdity of how terrible people can be is boosted ten fold.
Like his own father.
There are stand outs in westerberg, good people, those in bas crowds like mcnamara and veronica and those in no crowd, like martha.

In westerberg you have to be a bad person, or act like one to survive.
Watching the musical with this in mind, it becomes insanely clear thats true.
Even clearer post chandler death (PCD) and somehow more painfully obvious post kurt and ram death (PKRD).
PCD, duke takes over.
Duke makes Mcnamaras life seem like hell on earth.
Duke went from a girl who seemed to be willing to kill 50 puppies for chandler, actinf almost as if a pushover to her, to the moment she died, taking control of the school.
PKRD, it gets worse.
The suicide rally things held.
Mcnamara attemps to kill herself.
Why? Duke.
J.D. brings up the idea of killing duke, when he couldnt, he just. blackmailed her.

Back to J.D,
Veronixa being in Westerberg, with J.D. is the worst thing that couldve ever happened.

JD has his second motive.
A second motive is worse then a first one.
Im syaing this for hopefully the last time.
JDs motives:
Veronixa
Westerberg and his father.

Ive explained why westerberg isnt a good place.
Ive explained why JDs dad sucks.
These 2 things create similarities between westerberg as a whole and JDs father who he clearly shows resentment to.

Chandler hasnt reallt done anything…too bad to veronixa when jd was around, so, why would he kill her?
he mentioned his dad right hefore he put the drain cleaner in the cup, anyways.
I think the murder of heather chandler was more relayed to his father, and kurt and rams more related to veronica, and the bombing being a mixture of both.
it feels weird to say smth abt your father right before killing someone.
Unless you are JD. With JDs father.
